IMAGINED FUTURES
UNIDO-ICSID INDIA '79
Design for Development Conference
This exhibition was conceived to supplement the Design for Social Development conference by providing a glimpse of the background and events that led up to the  UNIDO-ICSID INDIA ‘79 conference, as well as the events that took place in Ahmedabad and Bombay 40 years ago. Many people at the NID and beyond have contributed to this exhibition by sharing their views, memories and resources for which we are grateful. The NID Archives, a unique repository of Indian design history, is the source of much of the visual material and artifacts shown in this exhibition. The archival materials are being carefully digitized and cataloged jointly by the KMC and Photography discipline at NID. Producing this exhibition from the NID Archives has been a pleasure because of the efficient facilitation by the KMC team led by Mrs. Lalitha Poluru. Our investigations have  led to the discovery of many more stories than what is included here, which may find a place in the forthcoming exhibition catalog. I was associated with this exhibition in the capacity of Curator, researcher and asset production.
